Tips for Parents

• Ask your child, "Can you point to your pants (shoes, socks, shirt, etc.)?  Can you tell me what you are wearing?"
• Pantomime putting on articles of clothing as you sing the lyrics.
• Point to your shoes, pants, shirt and head as you move through the song.         
• Best Dressed - Play this song in the background or actively sing as your child and you play with a doll and its clothing.
• Laundry Bag - Place articles of clothing in a bag or pillow case and let your child pull out one thing.  Let them practice putting the clothes on themselves.

Young children follow routines every day.  These routines encompass a sequence of activities and include daily activities like getting dressed, taking a bath, getting on the bus and many, many more.  Adults move through simple daily routines automatically.  The young child with developmental disabilities or communication difficulties may need to consciously "practice" the steps that are needed.  This is a very simple concept-development song to practice the vocabulary and sequence for getting dressed.
