Tips for Parents                               

• Ask your child, "How many hands do you have?", "What do you do with your hands?" and "How do you use your hands for helping?"
• During the lyrics "hands are for helping" shake hands with each other
• During "hands are for hugging" give yourselves or each other a hug.
• During "hands are for holding" hold hands.
• Help, Hold & Hug Handprint Tree - Help your child trace and cut out their handprints and arrange them into a "Help, Hold and Hug" tree as a reminder of what positive things hands can do.  Keep some extra handprints handy to add to the tree when wonderful uses for hands are exhibited by your child. Write on each of the five fingers, five things the child did to help around the house. 
• Helper Glove - When your child wants to be helpful, let them the helping glove.  The helper glove can have special decorative touches and can be especially helpful during clean-up time.  You can also let the child wear the glove when they are working to resolve a conflict without using their hands for hurting.
