Lyrics
by Melinda Chalfonte-Evans
Down on the farm
Oh let's go down on the farm
When we go down on the farm
There is a cow - moo!
(Repeat with duck - quack, pig - oink)
Down on the farm there's you and me, too
Down on the farm
Oh let's go down on the farm
When we go down on the farm
There is a horse - neigh!
(Repeat with chick - cheep, cheep, sheep - baa)
Down on the farm there's you and me, too
Down on the farm there's you and me, too
Down on the farm

Many of our youngest learners, especially those with developmental or communication disabilities, need to have songs that target the basics and can be sung slowly. Although the lyrics are simple, they still address the concept of categorization (farm animals) and the association of sounds with the corresponding animals. The concept of "farm" is repeated several times, and there is ample time for the children to contribute their own animal sounds.
