About Children Inc.

Founded in 1977, Children, Inc. is the largest private non-profit early care and education provider in Kentucky with over 3,00 children attending our programs each day. Our
vision is that young children are ready to succeed in school and in life. Our mission is to advance the success of young children by
partnering with families, professionals and the
community through exemplary services, training,
research and advocacy. We accomplish our mission
within a culture of innovation, collaboration and
shared leadership.
Children, Inc. currently operates nine early education and care centers. Our School Age Services have grown to over 75 programs in four counties. The Children, Inc. Family Child Care network has grown to over 80 providers. The Young Families Program, an affiliate of Every Child Succeeds, serves at-risk first time mothers with weekly home visits.
Children, Inc. is also a major provider of training in early education and care. Children, Inc. provides the coursework for the Child Development Associate certificate, as well as a national certification in Montessori education. CI also offers ongoing in-service training in specialized areas such as early brain development and family-centered practice.
Beginning in 1997, CI recognized the powerful implications of the emerging research on early brain development not only for effective parenting, and professional practice, but also as an advocacy tool for public policy. Since then, CI has led a consortium of organizations that have annually sponsored one of the premier national conferences on brain development.
The Devereux Foundation asked Children, Inc. to create the first Devereux Area Training and Mentoring Center that would provide a model for further replication around the country. This center brings nationally certified Devereux training, model classrooms, research and product development to the Greater Cincinnati area. The DECA program is a nationally recognized early childhood prevention program that promotes resilience in young children.
Children, Inc. remains committed to developing innovative and effective strategies that bridge the gap between research and practice in early childhood.
As Children, Inc. lives out its promise to provide high quality child care and early childhood education within the context of partnership with parents and the community, the commitment to families and children continues. It is hoped that you feel the collective energy, spirit, and power of kept promises. Children, Inc. touches many lives on a daily basis as its mission, vision, and beliefs are lived out in action.
